Just wanted to check in with you all and say...How much I am grateful for the best clients in the world!

This time of year is normally what is called in the photography world "off season". Well honestly this has been as busy as Christmas for me and I cannot tell you Thank You enough! You guys are the best!

Parkway Place Mall has been an amazing jouney! I have love every second of displaying my work there. A wonderful business is opening in this very spot. So my display is no longer there. On your newborn (and 4 months session) session. I bring the studio to you! I fully believe that a newborn needs the comforts of home and the security that it brings along with mom and dad feeling comfortable at home. We use your nursery and whatever I find that will make an outstanding portrait! The love of family is what make an outstanding portrait in my opinion so parents and siblings will be included at no charge. The home session can be up to 4 hours. There is plenty of time to feed baby and comfort baby. No rush at all.

During the year there are perks to the Baby Plan. If there is a rate increase you will not incur that. I have Special Edition Sessions that have steep discounts and you are a part of that first! For Birth Announcements and Christmas Cards you get discounts. Baby Planners get first choice of my calender. There are also little surprises along the way.  The Baby Plan books usually 2 months in advance sometimes further out depending on the time of year. You need to call asap to get on the calender.

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! We sure did and I know we all ate too much. LOL!My sweet husband bought me a Nook Tablet and I LOVE it! I have already read Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers. Best Book ever! As a matter of fact that is the 2nd time I have read it. :)

I know, I know. You will say I am a Mac person and I am. I wanted something just for reading and not for the apps and surfing the web. This is perfect for this purpose. It also fits in my purse. :)Okay so I am excited about 2012! I plan on some amazing things this year! Can't wait!

We are back! We left September 24th and returned October 1! Yep, 8 amazing days in Disney! We had a wonderful time. Tired...yes! Am I to old for that much walking...yes!!! Sisters are so sweet. I have had alot of those lately. Can ya tell? LOL.
I am the only girl of 3 brothers. I always wanted a sister. I begged and begged my mother to adopt a sister for me. It never happened. I am the baby of the family. There are mostly boys in all of our family. My mother is the only girl of 3 siblings on her side as well. So cherish those sisters and those sister bonds. They are wonderful!

We had a wonderful time in Mooresville...as always. I do love it there. Mooresville will be even more beautiful in the fall. The leaves are gorgeous then.

Speaking of fall. All the weekends are taken until December! The calendar is almost fully booked for the rest of the year so please call or email soon if you want in.

Our very good friends Pat and Misty Neukam from Indiana came down in May for a visit and we had such a wonderful time. If you remember I posted about what a true friends they were during the April tornadoes. They dropped their lives and came to help clean up my moms house they were just a disaster. I mean how many people would do that? Not too many. They brought a generator, water, ice and so many supplies....not just for us...anyone who needed it.
They stayed several days in May and we just loved it so much. We exchanged session because she is a photographer in Indiana. Here are a few from her session. We love you guys and Sophie misses you Katlyn!!! Please move here she says! LOL! We know a house right across the street that is for sale. :)

Take time to go by Strasburg at Bridgestreet and Whitesburg to see our cutie pie model winner in each store there. There are beautiful displays in each store. I adore the frames. Very different from what I have been offering. I have TONS of samples in the studio for sale you can walk out with! How awesome is that! I will get a pic of that too soon.

Wow it sure was H-O-T in Mooresville this summer day. We had to reschedule due to odds and ends. So we took this day and went with it.

Little Miss loves her mommy and wants to be held alot right now. So I think we done wonderful to get these great smiles. Here are a few from the day. We have many, many more that are great!

I do want to note I am running behind. I went to have the back procedure which is an epidural. I have been out of commission for a few days, but will be back up and running soon.

Hot is all there is to describe right now in Huntsville. The temp could be 85, but it feels like 105! The humidity is just unbearable. I tell ya though...I would much rather it be this hot than 15 degrees. I for sure don't like winter. Summer is for me. :)

It was hot in Downtown Huntsville for this session. The kids really was not into this to much. We managed to get some awesome portraits. Here are a few from our session.

Little man "T" and his family are HUGE Auburn Fans! Can you blame them? :P War Eagle!
I love photographing 6-9 month olds. They are so very much fun. That spark of personality is really showing and we have a great time. This is the 3rd session on the Watch Me Grow Baby Plan and he has his one year session coming up. Time flies. It seems like we were just photographing his newborn session.

In this business they tell you that you should not share personal things about yourself. Well, sometimes rules are made to be broken. If you know me or anything about my business you know my faith is what is first and foremost. I owe all what people tell me is talent to Him so I should be able to write what I like. :) None of this would be possible. So there we have it.

I heard this song recently. I have to admit I don't listen to Contemporary Christian Music. This song happened to be playing (actually they have a Christian station playing) at a frame store online . One which I am looking at to start offering to all of you. See rules are made to be broken. LOL.

I am a more Southern Gospel fan. The Isaacs are at the top for me. I like others as well, but they are really great.

I do love downtown Huntsville. All the Old Town look. The little nooks and crannies I find along the way are just gorgeous. The sun image is just beautiful to me. I love the way he is looking at his brother with the sun peeking thru. The warmth of the image. Just makes you smile.

Strasburg asked me to do a model search and wow I was honored. Here is our winner chosen by Strasburg themselves. Here are a few of my favorite images. So many more, but soon you will see this little man in both of the Huntsville stores on the walls. So be on the lookout. They wanted a more modern look so I think we achieved that here. I love these images.

I do want you to take note of the outfit which is a little more tradtional, but we did the "out in the field" session. Some of my moms think you cannot mix the two together. You can. Take notes moms. LOL! I hope Aly you love these as much as I do and I hope Strasburg loves them as well.

I love what I do. I really, really do. It makes me happy. I have photographer friends around the country. I also see photographers work from here and around the world. What makes us all unique is we have our own style. Some are very elaborate, some are just all natural light, some are just studio, some use alot of props, that is what makes the world of photography go around. There is someone for everyone. I am just what my names says...Simplicity...simple. I love for you to see the child first then everything else should compliment the child. Simple. Just thinking out loud today. Gotta love that....Simple.

I cannot express to all of my clients how grateful I am that you all have chosen me. Thank you! You see what I see and that means the world to me. :)

My good friend Misty Neukam and her family came to visit this past Thursday. They left Monday. While here I photographed her family and her mine. I have SO MANY wonderful images. This is just ONE of these. I wanted to share this one that is proofed so far. A sneak peek to say. I LOVE IT!!! I about teared up. My baby is 13. I tell all of you that it goes fast. It really does. He will be starting 8th grade. sigh!

I just love all his curls! I want to mention the brown leather bag he is sitting in. I found this treasure and this came from England in the 1800's. It was a doctors bag. It is amazing! Very worn and tethered. I LOVE IT! Fits right in.

I am so excited about my new background. I have wanted to purchase this for a very long time and it has come to pass. Miss A is perfect to show it off. How cute is she? I will have more sessions with this of course so stay tuned.

We went with all natural light in the studio for this background and mom and myself LOVED it! Beautiful.

When I look through my lens each session I see so many wonderful things. Smiles, happiness, laughter, memories being made for a lifetime. It is an extraordinary opportunity for me to capture that each and every session for all the families I meet. Being a professional photographer is an awesome profession, but at the same time a tremendous responsibility to each and everyone of you. Apartment and Generosity

As all of us are trying find some sort of normal in our lives I wanted to let you know if you know of someone looking to lease an apartment in the Harvest\Toney area my husband has one. One has already been leased to a tornado victim so we have one more.
They are super nice. 3 bedroom, 2 bath, hardwood floors and stainless appliances and a garage. Let us know if you know of someone who needs this. It is ready to move in.

I am just know trying to get my systems up and running here at the office. Power surges are killer to computers so I have waited until today to get them going for sure. Today I woke up to Internet! Yay! How did we survive without it?

I am playing catch up on sessions and proofing so please bear with me on all of that please. My heart is just aching for all of those who have lost so much. I see the destruction everywhere I go. I broke down and cried...how can you not? My friends....my clients have been hit along with my mom. It is just terrible.

Can I just say what a joy it has been to see everyone coming together and helping one another?! It has been wonderful! I have a true friend who her whole family drove all night from Indiana to come help us with my mom.

Misty Neukam, her husband Pat, son Keith, and daughter Kaitlyn drove all night, brought chainsaw, water, ice, generators and help beyond thanks I could ever give!!! She is also a photographer. What a true, true friend to drop your life and come down to help others.
I have seen generous actions like these all over the valley. Amazing!

Wow I'm in Shock

Please let me know any and all of you are okay. We are fine. My phone is working so please call it or my home phone. Email or text. I have been worried and contacting the ones I believe were in the path of the storms.

For the ones who read my blog from around the world. 30-40 tornadoes struck North Alabama 4-5 of those being f-4's at least. Please pray for all the lives lost.

My moms house lost alot of trees.
Here is the front of the 2 story house.

You can see how big the trees are by how small the car is and they are all on the house. The front used to be yard!!

The rest is all around her house. These trees are hundreds of years old and very tall.

We are so very blessed. So many homes were distroyed and so many lost lives.
We are blessed for sure.

Prayers with all whom were hit with the tornadoes

All I can say is my heart is with all of you. My prayers are with all you.
Obviously we are closed since there will be no power for 3-4 days at least. I have a dear friend who took a direct hit in 95 in Anderson Hills and from what I hear on FB and radio it was hit again so I need to check on her. Also my moms house received a lot of damange but they are OK. My phone will not receive a signal or get internet so you may call me at home 256-828-2768
Hopefully things will only get brighter. If you all need anything please call.

Sad isn't it? These are iPhone snapshots...like you could not tell. Way too much trouble to do a mini-session with my kids. Tell tell the truth the iPhone was just about to much trouble. LOL They were hitting each other and just on and on. Can't you feel the love in the picture! Notice the space between them.
Taking pictures of your own children is so much more difficult than photographing other children.

Well we have come to the realization that my kids are just growing up. No Easter baskets this year. No egg hunts. :( They wanted candy for sure. I bought them gifts and candy. My little man is so grown up. He is as tall as I am now. It is amazing what a year does in the life of a 13 year old. Sophie will be shooting up here soon. For now I will cherish the hugs while her head is still under my chin. :)

I love that the trees are green and the flowers are out! LOVE! Winter is not my favorite time of year by any means. I love the warm air. Just all of the elements that come with Spring and Summer except allergies. LOL.

This is my first session outdoors and wow how great it was it be back to Mooresville. I know you all know how fond I am of Mooresville so I really enjoyed my afternoon with this wonderful family. As a matter of fact after our session they went back into Mooresville for a walk.

Brother Chad and Sister Emily Cantrell gave me the honor photographing their new precious angel! She is so very sweet! 5 days old and she was a joy. I am often asked to photograph weddings. I did offer this at one time and found it is just not my thing. I love newborns, babies, children, and families. As a photographer when you find your what you love you will excel in that and I love what I do.

Although weddings are what this clip speaks of it applies to all genres of photography. Do some research, meet your potential photographer, see the work in person at their studio and you will have amazing images for a lifetime!!!

One of my sweetest, bestest ( I know it's not a word, it is my term of endearment here, lol) clients had her 2nd munchkin recently and I was honored to photography him! Yay! Okay can I say I have seem some awesome nurseries in my time and each have their place in nursery history with me. They are all amazing! I love being able to photograph each and every one of them! You moms have such talent and I give you props for being able to do this! Big bow inserted here! LOL
This nursery is one of my favs by far! I love the colors, the name over the window with the branch, the natural aspects...look closely, and most of all the wall paper on the ceiling of the birds flying! So totally awesome! The colors are very relaxing and like I said natural. There are white tree branches for lamps (well ceramic, but you get the picture). And also she mixed antiques with new which of course I love. Oh okay back to the portraits! I am rambling. LOL

10 Things You May or May Not Know About Me | Huntsville Children's Photographer

1. I am so totally OCD! LOL! Have been since I was a kiddo. Alot of you may know that about me. When it comes to my portraits...beyond OCD. If you ever see my sweet hubby Lynn around ask him about my OCDness. =)

2. I love to laugh. I laugh at the silliest things and things that most may not find funny. The more goofy it is...the better.
If I really start laughing I can't stop and I laugh until I cry.

3. I eat Cheez-it with French Dressing. Crazy I know. I started this in high school and I am not sure how. Which brings me to the next thing...

4. I worked for a very prominent lawyer in Huntsville during high school as a runner. I wanted to be a lawyer more than anything. I had plans on going to Harvard. My time as a runner I learned what it was really about and that was not "Me". The Cheez-its I ate at the law firm. LOL! I did get a parking ticket running errands and one awesome lawyer at the firm paid it for me and told me not to tell my mom. Well she found out anyway. Too funny!

5. I am a super duper Wizard of Oz fan! I mean like crazy! We went to Disney World and rode The Great Movie Ride.

The end of the ride was a surpise...we were in Oz! No joking. Dorothy was there and so was everyone else. I literally broke down and cried! Told you I am a crazy fan. I am weird I know so no emails letting me know what I have already confirmed. =)
Although I am not a crazy of a fan as the girl I saw on My Fair Wedding who had a Wizard Of Oz Wedding Theme.

Maybe if I had just thought of it first. Just kidding. I really am kidding. LOL!

6. I am the youngest of 4 siblings. I have an 3 older brothers. Roger who is 52 in May, Garry who is 51 in March and Greg who died when he was 13 months old.

7. My dad died when I was 15 years old. He was 53.

8. I have always wanted to be a Labor and Delivery Nurse. I was accepted to UAH my senior year to pursue that instead I married my high school sweetheart. What is "hilarrison" as Sophie used to say...is that most of the peeps in the class that toured the hospital got sick watching the ladies in labor and had to leave. I loved it. That desire never left and I cannot watch the shows on TV without crying. I went on to start a photography business specializing in newborns, children and families. =)

9. Lynn and I have been together for 22 years in May. I am 38 years old so add that up if you like. We have been married for 18 in October.

10. I have always dreamed of going to Paris and touring The Louvre. Also the the chateaus and the countryside or villages. I am not really about the love aspect about it. I adore art. It runs deep in me. I could spend a week just in the Louvre. I love to see culture too. I could just sit on a bench and watch everyone go by. I would love to go to Italy as well. I love plays as in musicals. I cry.
Once I went to the Shakespeare Theatre
and I seen Arms and the Man by George Bernard Shaw. I cried and had chills thru most of the play. It was wonderful. Art. It can move you.

Sophie LOVES Taylor like most girls do right now. She also knows her mom is a big softy. She came in the living room and said "Mom you have to listen to this song". She put the earphones in my ears and hits play on her ipod touch. I hear this song "Never Grow Up". OH! My heart just broke. It said what I feel and want to say to her and Noah, but I am not a person of expression with words as you all can tell by my blog. LOL

So I wanted to share with you this song which to me is so awesome. Noah is will be 13 this month and Sophie will be 11 in June. Right now I am still the light in their world and I love that. I just dread the day when they do want me to park around the corner and my heart breaks inside and when the day comes when they finally move out to be adults and no more pitter patter in the house. It all goes so fast. I will enjoy each day I have and savor each second. I love these kids more than anything in the world.

So the baby plan has a value of $1800! The baby plan is $400! There is also a $200 min. order from each of your sessions which is so easy to hit with you and grandparents ordering. The Baby Plan is a wonderful way to document your child's first year of life! On your newborn (and 4 months session) session. I bring the studio to you! I fully believe that a newborn needs the comforts of home and the security that it brings along with mom and dad feeling comfortable at home. We use your nursery and whatever I find that will make an outstanding portrait! The love of family is what make an outstanding portrait in my opinion so parents and siblings will be included at no charge. The home session can be up to 4 hours. There is plenty of time to feed baby and comfort baby. No rush at all. There will be up to 70 images to choose from. Each session varies.
